growin' Up

Jess and I have been on-line friends since I can remember being on the internet. I think I originally stumbled upon Jess through her store, growin' Up (back then it was called Flap) and I approached Jess about making a custom bag for me! She's been one of my biggest inspirations ever since and she's the reason why I started posting to Wardrobe Remix!

A few months back, Jess found a few things to call her own from our etsy shop and I think she worked wonders with this shirt!

The Equals

My pal Robbie turned me onto the Equals when he used to play them at the, now dearly missed, Mutual Appreciation nights (reborn as Jaguar Ride). Every time "Michael and His Slipper Tree" would come on, I could surely be counted on to be dancing and hoppin' around the room.

Here's a video of them playing "Baby Come Back" on Top of the Pops in 1968.






"The Equals, if they're remembered by American audiences at all, are noted for the fact that Eddy Grant, the rock/soca/reggae synthesizer who sang "Electric Avenue" (1983), was a member. Pop historians like to add the Equals to that list of overseas artists with limited US success that also includes the Pretty Things, the Move, Shocking Blue, Gary Glitter and the Shadows. In the Equals' case, their jarring mix of bubblegum, soul, "mod" (Small Faces, the Who) plus whatever else crossed Eddy Grant's mind, was only good for one American hit, 1968's "Baby Come Back" (#32 on Billboard's pop charts). 19 days of summer

September 22 marks the official start of Autumn. I'll admit - I am looking forward to those first few weeks of fall where tights, hot chocolate and mitten hand holding seem like a novel idea. But, for the following six months you'll probably find me with three pairs of tights, hiding from cold, and very much so attached to the oscillating space heater. Most likely I'll be complaining about my toes being numb from the lack of circulation getting to my toes from said three pairs of tights.. I can guarantee that I'll have myself a little count down in which a big fat X will mark off each day until June 22 comes along!

I still have 19 days though and I plan on spending my time wisely. In the mean while, I found these photos off of my old computer. There's something distinctly summer about each of them. (and I'm terribly sorry, but I haven't the slightest idea where any of them came from, if you know, please give credit where credit's due!)
